These days it seems like the onboard entertainment on flights are seemingly endless…if you’re on the right airplane that is.
We know we’re all on our own for entertainment when it comes to the budget airlines. However, when it comes to the major US airlines, don’t we kind of expect to have options?
With the cost of flying what it is today, the notion of being entertained while onboard may come as an afterthought to some.
People have their smartphones and iPads available, so planes don’t necessarily have to do that much when it comes to inflight entertainment.
Yet the big players do.
The plethora of movie and series show options along with Live TV for those domestic flights.
Delta’s free WiFi has been an absolute game changer in the skies, forcing United and American to play catch up. Not paying a price to be connected to the internet while 35,000 feet in the air might just be the ultimate entertainment option an airline can offer.
According to the 2025 World Airline Awards, Delta is the number 1 U.S. airline when it comes to inflight entertainment, ranking 6th overall in the world. United landed at 10th overall and American came in at number 15.
It won’t be much longer until free WiFi on planes is just normalcy.
Which means airlines will just have to think of something else creative to separate from the pack when it comes to inflight entertainment.
Maybe one day we will be able to cast from our phones to the screens on seat backs.
Until then we’ll keep loving the free WiFi the most.
