I recently had the fortune to travel internationally for the first timeand I chose to splurge on Delta Air Lines Delta One international business class seats to get there.?
I know what youre probably wondering: are they even worth it? While I only have this one experience to draw from, I hope I can give you, my reader, a little insight into what the seat class is really like, and whether or not its right for you.?
What Delta One Is Like?
Delta One, without a doubt, offers the best seats for flying internationally with Delta. On both my flight to and from Charles de Gaulle in France, I experienced a fully adjustable seat that reclined, had a footrest adjustment, and even extended to a flatbed position, giving me the opportunity to nap on both flights.
I flew out to Paris on an 8-hour night flight from Detroit. I was given a pillow and blanket in a reusable zipper bag and a nighttime toiletry kit complete with an eye mask, ear plugs, slippers, a toothbrush and toothpaste, hand cream and lip balm. Night flights with Delta One international business class also include a good dinner with a few sides and the option of dessert, along with a small breakfast service before landing.?
My favorite part? Being able to sleep comfortably on the flight. By the time we landed at Charles de Gaulle, I felt only as if Id had a late night, and in the days after, I noticed that the time adjustment wasnt nearly as bad in France as it was upon my return.?

The Delta One seat configurations differ depending on the plane. I flew out on an older model, one that was a bit different than the next plane I took heading back to the States. There were a few differences, and while they could both use some modernizing, both were still enjoyable.
On my return flight, I enjoyed a little bit of extra storage room for my things and a privacy panel that slid out to create a cozy little cubicle where I could sleep comfortably. Additionally, the entertainment screen on my second flight was positioned directly in front of me, where on the first flight, it had to be adjusted. Little things, but different nonetheless.?
My return flight, since it departed during the day, provided only a lunch service. I still received the pillow, blanket and slippers, which I used to snooze the flight away after my meal ended.?
Is Delta One Worth It...For You??
I dont regret choosing Delta One at all. While its not for everyone (especially so because of the sometimes extravagant price tag), there are a few reasons why you might want to choose the seat category for your nextor firstinternational trip.?
Health considerations: If you have back problems, or struggle to maintain sitting in an upright position for several hours, or worry about things like blood clots, then Delta One is definitely for you.?
After takeoff, you can adjust your seat to any configuration you like: you can go fully down to lay with your legs outstretched, or you can adjust it like a comfortable lounge chair, with your feet extended and your back reclined for a bit more comfort while still being able to do things like enjoy your meal service or a movie.?
Sleeping well:?Can you function without at least a few hours of sleep? Or perhaps you cant sleep sitting up to save your life? Either way, Delta Ones lay-flat seats are definitely easier to fall asleep in, especially when you pair them with the ear plugs, eye mask, pillow and blanket the airline provides.
I slept nearly four hours on my flight to Paris, and around the same on my way back to the States. Not only did this leave me feeling more rested upon landing, but sleeping on the plane also made the time go by faster, which is always a benefit.?
The small benefits: Do you travel a lot, or just enjoy an easier travel experience? Delta One might be a great option for you. Not only do you receive your own little corner in the plane to stretch out and do as you like, but you also enjoy priority service in the airports you visit, such as ticketing and boarding. You also receive two free checked bags, a dedicated overhead compartment and included access to the Delta Sky Club where available.?
So, is Delta One worth the price? The decision is up to you. For me, it was a great experience that Id love to repeat again. ??
