The American Society of Travel Agents (ASTA) is set to undergo its first name change in decades as part of a rebranding and reorganization effort.
ASTA announced Thursday it will become the "American Society of Travel Advisors" and its National Association of Career Travel Agents (NACTA) subsidiary, which it acquired in 2000, will be brought closer under the ASTA banner as the "ASTA Small Business Network."
The formal launch will occur and new logos will be unveiled at this month's ASTA Global Convention in Washington, D.C. August 21-23.
The organization also plans to launch a major consumer awareness campaign during the event.
The decision to bring NACTA members into the fold comes after extensive consultation with both NACTA and ASTA's volunteer leadership with the ultimate goal being to elevate the industry along with members' business.
ASTA plans to reveal additional details of the rebranding and reorganization in the coming weeks and months. In the meantime, travel professionals can learn more by attending this month's ASTA Global Convention and NACTA Annual Conference (August 23-25) in Washington, D.C.
