U.S. travel agency air ticket sales from November have increased 7 percent from November 2023, totaling $7.2 billion, according to new data from Airlines Reporting Corp. (ARC).?
While this total was 11 percent lower than Octobers $8.2 billion total, its still an increase from 2023. November also saw 20.6 million air travelers, which is a 1.1 percent year-over-year increase.?
U.S. domestic trip number stayed the same as November 2023, with 12.8 million traveling domestically, no doubt in large part due to the Thanksgiving holiday.
More Americans chose to travel internationally this November with a 3 percent year-over-year increase, spurring an increase in the average ticket price, which rose to $576. Nearly 8 million Americans traveled internationally.?
Novembers air travel data continues to show U.S. passengers prioritizing international destinations with year-over-year growth, said Steve Solomon, chief commercial officer at ARC. Leisure travel continues to show strength, with consumers continuing to prioritize travel with their discretionary spending.
When compared with 2019 pre-pandemic numbers, it becomes even clearer just how well air travel has recovered and exceeded post-pandemic: in November 2019, total sales were at $6.8 billion, though 21.8 million travelers had taken trips during the month. Higher ticket prices and more travelers choosing to fly farther do indeed help to create record ticket sales totals.?
