American Cruise Lines has christened its newest ship, American Legend.
The ceremony took place in Key West, Florida, last week, while the ship was docked at Mallory Square. The 100-guest vessel was in the middle of the 8-day Florida Gulf Coast & Keys itinerary, which sail round trip from St. Petersburg, Florida.?
Danise DeeDee Henriquez, the mayor of Key West, is the vessels godmother. She was on-hand for the festivities, along with Charles B. Robertson, the president and chief executive officer of American Cruise Lines.

American Legend is one of several new ships joining the companys fleet as part of its Project Blue initiative. The ship will spend the next few weeks in Florida before sailing to Chesapeake Bay to offer American Revolution cruises. During the summer, American Legend will offer a mix of coastal New England voyages. In the fall, it will offer Hudson River cruises before returning to Florida for the winter.
