When it debuts next year, Disney Cruise Lines forthcoming ship, Disney Destiny, will have a heroes and villains themewith a heavy emphasis on the villains.
The cruise line unveiled more details about the new vessel today, the second day of the lines three-day reveal blitz. Yesterday, Disney shared that the vessel will homeport at Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and offered fresh intel about the dining venues and staterooms.
The vessels theme will explore the dynamic duality of every great Disney story, where opposing forces of light and dark drive characters to rise to their destinies, according to the company.?
Heroic characters from movies like Hercules, The Incredibles and The Lion King will play a starring role on the vessel. However, behind every great hero is a villain who needs to be defeated. So, the ship will also highlight some of Disneys most legendary schemers, scoundrels and specters, per the company.
Adults will enjoy their time at De Vils, a sultry red, black and white piano lounge inspired by Cruella de Vil from One Hundred and One Dalmatians. At Cask and Cannon, a Pirates of the Caribbean-themed watering hole, travelers can sip rum, watch sports and indulge in a selection of bootlegged brews served pirate-style, straight from the barrel.?
Another cocktail bar, Haunted Mansion Parlor, draws inspiration from the original 1969 theme park attraction. It will first debut aboard the Disney Treasure in December 2024 before opening on Disney Destiny in 2025.
Thrill-seeking guests can take a ride on the 760-foot-long AquaMouse, Disney Cruise Lines signature attraction at sea. But, for Disney Destiny, the cruise line is introducing a new storyline called Sing a Silly Song, which features an exclusive original soundtrack written by Emmy award-winning composer Christopher Willis and lyricist Elyse Willis.
Mickey and Minnie will take travelers to the top of Villain Mountain, encountering various villains along the wayincluding Queen of Hearts (Alice in Wonderland''), Scar (The Lion King''), Chernabog (Fantasia) and others. Sing a Silly Song will be one of four offered on Disney Destiny's AquaMouse ride.
Travelers will be able to engage with Disney villains in other ways onboard the ship, including meet-and-greets, special appearances, dance parties, trivia and shows. Keep an eye out for Maleficent, Hades, Cruella de Vil, Captain Hook, Mr. Smee, Oogie Boogie, Captain Jack Sparrow, Bruno and Loki.
The Disney Destiny is all about celebrating the bold, charismatic and driven characters at the heart of our favorite stories, says Sharon Siskie, senior vice president and general manager, Disney Cruise Line. And who are our beloved heroes without the antagonists who challenge them to prevail? We want our guests to have fun with the unique theme of this ship, and we are having a blast creating spaces and entertainment experiences that pay tribute to the villains, anti-heroes and mischief makers who have captivated Disney film and theme park audiences for generations.
