Disney Cruise Line’s newest ship, Disney Treasure, is making its way to the open ocean to start its sea trials.
The 4,000-guest vessel departed the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany, on Wednesday. From there, a tugboat guided the vessel along the Ems River on its way to Eemshaven, the Netherlands. Once it arrives, it will head into the North Sea to start sea trials.
“The ship made its way past waving spectators, who lined the river’s shores to celebrate its departure,” according to Disney.

If all goes according to plan, the vessel will make its way across the Atlantic ahead of its debut from Port Canaveral. The ship’s maiden voyage with passengers is scheduled for December 21.
The new vessel, the sixth in Disney’s growing fleet, will sail 7-night Eastern and Western Caribbean itineraries.
Disney Treasure, which has an “Adventure” theme, is the sister ship to Disney Wish, which launched last year as the first in the line’s Wish Class. It will feature a Broadway-style “Moana” production, as well as spaces and dining venues inspired by “Coco” and “Aladdin.” In keeping with the “Adventure” theme, the ship has a signature song called “Live the Adventure,” performed by Jordin Sparks.
