Princess Cruises has taken delivery of its newest Princess ship, the Sun Princess, but the cruise line has canceled its February 18 maiden voyage, as the ship needs more work before it is ready to set sail for the first time with guests onboard.?
The Sun Princess was originally meant to debut on February 8 from Barcelona on a 10-day inaugural voyage, but that was subsequently canceled in January, likely due to the same reason as this voyages cancellation: necessary technical work.?
Guests on its February 18 voyage will receive a full refund of the cruise fare and pre-purchased onboard services, as well as a 50 percent future cruise credit, provided they booked their cruise by November 30, 2024. Travel agent commissions for the sailing will be protected.

Those who already arrived ahead of their sailing will be offered financial reimbursement for select travel costs, while those who havent traveled yet will be offered reimbursement for changing their flights.?
The Sun Princess will now depart on its maiden voyage on February 28 from Rome, Italy.? The ship, designed and built by Fincantieri, is the largest ship ever built in Italy. It weighs 175,500 tons and accommodates up to 4,300 guests.?
The ship offers the most balconies on any Princess ship, as well as an array of new offerings and experiences for guests, such as The Dome, a unique entertainment venue; the cruise lines largest casino; a massive family fun zone, called Park19; and twenty-nine dining and drinking venues for guests to enjoy.?
