The Cura?ao Tourist Board (CTB) is reporting double-digit, year-over-year
growth in overnight arrivals for June. The southern Caribbean nation hosted 50,123
land-based overnight visitors during the month, a 13 percent increase over June
2023.
Visitors from the United States helped drive Cura?aos arrivals
increase, as 14,913 U.S. visitors were recorded in June, a 14 percent increase over
the 13,071 travelers the country welcomed in June 2023.
Seventy percent of U.S. travelers opted for hotel or resort
accommodations in June, while the remaining 30 percent opted for other lodging
options, CTB officials said. The average U.S. visitor in Cura?ao stayed an
average of six nights.
The over-50,000 visitor total represents a new high for the destination, as Cura?ao has historically
attracted an average of 30,000 [overnight] arrivals during May and June of previous
years, CTB officials said.
Overall, Cura?ao hosted 346,774 overnight visitors in the
first six months of 2024, a 27 percent increase compared with the same period
in 2023. In all of 2023, Cura?ao welcomed 582,409 overnight visitors, a 19
percent increase over 2022.
CTB officials [anticipate] strong tourism numbers for the
rest of the year, potentially reaching a total of 700,000 stayover arrivals.
Cura?ao will welcome expanded airlift this fall. Delta Air
Lines will increase its weekly non-stop service to Cura?ao International
Airport (CUR) from Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) to a
daily flight beginning November 23, 2024.
