The Kilimanjaro Safaris ride at Disney World's Disney's Animal Kingdom park is already a family favorite, but visitors recently got an unexpected surprise while traveling through the "East African savanna" recently.
According to a report in the Orlando Sentinel, lucky guests on the ride were on hand to witness the birth of a baby giraffe.
The calf was born to mother Mara on Monday, January 14, 2019, according to an announcement on the park's Animals, Science and Environment Facebook page.
The excitement was palpable.
"I was on the safari this morning and saw the legs poking out!" exclaimed one user's post.
The ride was temporarily closed right after the birth and while the baby took its first steps, but the mother and her calf are now visible to lucky visitors at Disney's Animal Kingdom.
The giraffes aren't the only animals on view to guests, of course. Visitors can see more than 34 different species of African wildlife that wander over 110 acres.
