Akumal is a coastal resort town on the Yucatan Peninsula known for its white-sand beaches, sparkling water and stunning coral reefs. It is also rich in marine life, including sea turtles.
The area is anchored by Half Moon Bay to the north and the Yal-ku Lagoon in the south which teems with tropical fish, stingrays and barracuda and, inland, the area is known for Aktun Chen Parque Natural, which draws visitors to its caves and cenotes.
