Interest in RV travel is surging across the United States amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic as it offers a safe way to experience new destinations. Campspot, an online marketplace for campgrounds, RV parks, cabins, glamping accommodations and more, is a great place to begin your search. For a bit of inspiration, here are some of the top places for RV travelers looking to remain socially distant this spring.

A bucket-list destination for many, Arizona's Grand Canyon is undoubtedly a popular stop for campers of all types, including RV travelers. Trailer Village RV Park is convenient to the Grand Canyon's South Rim and is the only RV park located within the national park that features full hookups. Mather Campground also offers RV camping and can accommodate trailers up to 30 feet in length (no hookups). Further outside of the park in Flagstaff, Woody Mountain Campground offers pull-through RV sites and plenty of on-site amenities.

RV travelers hoping to set up shop in Zion National Park are encouraged to make reservations well in advance as both the Watchman and South Campgrounds are quite popular with park goers. The southern Utah region is beloved for its impressive red cliffs and world-class hiking and sees 70 percent of annual visitors from April through September. Dark Sky RV Campground about 33 miles southeast of the park in Kanab is another excellent spot to set up camp.

The picturesque Florida Keys offer a wide range of exceptional RV parks stretching all the way from Key Largo to Key West. John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park in Key Largo is the country's first undersea park while Bahia Honda State Park in Big Pine Key has been described as pure bliss and offers some of the best views around.

Situated atop Virginia's Shenandoah National Park, Lewis Mountain is the park's smallest campground but offers privacy and is convenient to some of the destination's top sites, including Big Meadows. The Appalachian Trail runs directly alongside the campground so hikers will have plenty of options. The intimate park reopened on March 25 and is currently accepting reservations.

The country's most-visited national park offers a plethora of excellent campgrounds, including peaceful Smokemont and the less traversed Indian Creek for those RV travelers looking to escape the crowds of tourists and social distance in Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Meanwhile, families are guaranteed to love Big Meadow Family Campground and Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park Camp-Resort: Cherokee. The former features a playground, splash pad and dog park, among other amenities.

The country's first national park is home to thousands of campsites and plenty of space for RV travelers. Mammoth Campground is the only park campground that's open year-round and can accommodate RVs up to 75-feet-long. The only downside is that there are no hook-ups or dump stations. Valley View RV Park Campground is located just 15 minutes from Yellowstone and prides itself on being big-rig friendly. In addition to the ideal location and spectacular scenery, campers can look forward to amenities such as a laundry facility, convenience store and gas station.

Elsewhere in Utah, Arches National Park boasts several top-notch RV-friendly camping locales within a few miles of the park, including Moab Valley RV Resort & Campground, Canyonlands RV Resort & Campground and OK RV Park. In addition to full hookup RV sites, the latter offers cabin rentals and even glamping tents in a quiet setting close to both Arches and Canyonlands National Park.

Texas' Big Bend National Park features some of the best hiking and most scenic drives in the nation. It's also famous for its dark skies which allow for phenomenal stargazing. Visitors will find a full hookup RV camping area at Rio Grande Village RV Park but can also venture out to the tiny Texas ghost town of Terlingua to experience awesome views of Bee Mountain at Roadrunner Travelers Campground.

For an otherworldly camping experience this spring, consider New Mexico's White Sands National Park, which is home to the world's largest gypsum dunefield. RV travelers can set up camp about an hour outside of the park at Pine Ridge RV Park in Ruidoso. The park offers dozens of pull-through full-service hookup sites complete with Dish TV and Wi-Fi.

Southern California's coveted Joshua Tree National Park offers both reservation-only and first-come, first-served camping in and around the park itself. However, RV campers can also venture out to nearby Indio to set up at Indian Wells RV Resort, which features a whopping 300 asphalt sites equipped with full hookups and complimentary Wi-Fi access so you can work remotely just a few minutes drive from Joshua Tree.
