Apprehension regarding issues such as civil unrest and political concerns has some travelers reconsidering US trips 每 particularly those from outside the country, according to findings from the Global Rescue Summer 2025 Traveler Safety and Sentiment Survey.
※The data reflects a widening perception gap between how American and international travelers are responding to unrest and political instability in the US,§ said Dan Richards, CEO of the Global Rescue Companies and a member of the US Department of Commerce*s Tourism Advisory Board.
※This disconnect underscores the importance of communication, transparency and safety preparedness for travelers and travel providers alike.§
The report, which surveyed 2,900 current and past?Global Rescue?members from June 24-30, 2025, found that 52 percent of respondents are not cancelling their US trips because of domestic unrest.
※However, international travelers are significantly more likely to avoid the US for this reason,§ according to the survey. ※While only 1 percent of US-based respondents canceled travel within the US due to unrest, nearly 12% of non-US respondents have canceled travel to or within the US.§
Meanwhile, 62 percent of respondents said the ※political climate does not affect their travel plans, [but] that number drops sharply to just 26 percent among non-US respondents,§ the survey results revealed.
※Nearly 20 percent of international travelers say they are reconsidering future trips to the US 每 seven percentage points more than the global average and 12 points higher than US-based respondents,§ the report said.
The group most concerned about civil unrest and political tensions was travelers aged 35 and younger, the report found. ※Nearly 10 percent reported postponing US travel due to political concerns 每 more than double the rate of those aged 55 and older, according to the survey results,§ according to the survey.
※These findings highlight the impact of domestic developments on inbound travel behavior,§ Richards said. ※Maintaining trust, safety and situational awareness is vital to ensuring travelers feel secure 每 whether they*re visiting from abroad or exploring their own country.§
