Atlas Ocean Voyages will offer two special sailings for the upcoming total solar eclipse on August 12, 2026.
World Navigator will take travelers to the Arctic and will be positioned near Patreksfjordur, Iceland, for the eclipse. World Traveller, meanwhile, will sail in the Mediterranean and will be positioned off Palma de Mallorca, Spain.
Astronomers will join both sailings and serve as expedition guides.?
This years solar eclipse was one of the most sought-after travel experiences in 2024 and Atlas Ocean Voyages is thrilled to offer not one, but two voyages to optimum locations for the next solar eclipse in 2026, says James Rodriguez, president and CEO of Atlas Ocean Voyages.?
The cruise line will also offer stargazing and astronomy workshops on select sailings in 2024 and 2025. The workshops, which will include night-sky viewing through advanced telescopes on deck, are part of the lines Cultural Expeditions Atlas Focus Lab. Guests will get to learn about everything from the birth of the university to the latest astronomical discoveries.?
Astronomer Jonathan H. Ward will also join three upcoming sailings on World Navigator, while astronomer Charles Barclay will join a departure on World Voyager in 2025.
There has always been a close connection to stargazing and the sea, from captains navigating with the stars to novice astronomers gazing at the night sky on deck, says Rodriguez.
Several other cruise lines have also unveiled 2026 total solar eclipse cruises, including Cunard, Albatros Expeditions and Princess Cruises.
