The Super Bowl is coming to Las Vegas for the first time in its nearly 60-year history and to say people are excited about it is an understatement.
The star-studded showdown between the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers inside Allegiant Stadium will produce fireworks, both literally and figuratively, but those traveling to Southern Nevada without a plan will be far less impressed.
Here is everything you need to know about traveling to Las Vegas for the Big Game this February.
The Event
Super Bowl LVIII will kick off at 3:30 p.m. local time (6:30 p.m. ET) on Sunday, February 11. The game will take place inside Allegiant Stadium, which is about a two-mile, one-hour walk or a few-minute ride from the Fountains of Bellagio.
Ticket prices for this year's game are higher than usual, with the get-in price soaring above $6,600 heading into the week of the game.
Usher will perform at halftime of the game, which will be broadcast on CBS, Univision and Nickelodeon and live-streamed on Paramount+.
The showdown is a rematch of Super Bowl LIV (2020) and involves two storied franchises. It pits the three-time and defending Super Bowl champion Chiefs against the five-time Super Bowl champion 49ers.
Super Bowl LVIII marks Kansas City's sixth Super Bowl appearance while San Francisco is suiting up for the Big Game for an eighth time. However, the 49ers' last Super Bowl victory came in 1995.
More Flights But Higher Prices
Getting to Las Vegas for the Big Game will be easier for fans traveling from Kansas City and San Francisco as several major U.S. airlines are adding flights, including some themed flights based on Chiefs stars Patrick Mahomes' and Travis Kelce's jersey numbers as well as Taylor Swift's popular album 1989.

Travelers can expect more flight options to Harry Reid International Airport (LAS) onboard American Airlines, United Airlines and Southwest Airlines. Meanwhile, Delta Air Lines will add up to 16 flights and more than 2,500 additional seats for fans traveling to Las Vegas from Kansas City, San Francisco, San Jose and New York City.
Those flights may not come cheap though as Priceline data shows that roundtrip flights to LAS for Super Bowl weekend are averaging $375, a 112 percent year-over-year price increase.
It's worth pointing out that the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) will restrict airspace over Las Vegas in the days before and after the Big Game. However, the restrictions will not affect regularly scheduled commercial flights into or out of LAS.
Hotel and Resort Rates Climb Ahead of Kickoff
Fans staying in Las Vegas for Super Bowl LVIII can expect to pay a premium for accommodations. According to trivago, average prices have increased substantially during Super Bowl weekend. Priceline reports that the average Las Vegas hotel room for the weekend of February 9-11 is currently $376.

For savings, travelers are encouraged to venture outside the city to places like North Las Vegas, Boulder City and Henderson where rates will be much lower.
Travelers should also be aware that some properties in Las Vegas are raising their dreaded resort fees ahead of the Big Game, which could lead to some higher-than-expected rates.
What to See and Do
Las Vegas will be buzzing with a plethora of NFL-sanctioned and various ancillary events leading up to Super Bowl Sunday.
These include concerts featuring music superstars like Adele, Luke Combs, Bruno Mars, U2, Wu-Tang Clan and Christina Aguilera as well as comedy performances from the likes of D.L. Hughley, Tom Segura, Bert Kreischer and Deon Cole, among others.
An exclusive CBS Las Vegas Residency will set up shop at the Fountains of Bellagio from February 5-11, with the iconic site hosting CBS Evening News with Norah O*Donnell, CBS Mornings, Inside Edition, The NFL Today, Super Bowl Live, The Talk and more all week long.
Fans can also check out the Off the Field Annual Charity Fashion Show at The Venetian Theatre inside The Venetian Resort Las Vegas on February 9 before stopping by Shaq's Fun House at XS Nightclub at Wynn Las Vegas. On February 10, Caesars Palace will host the 37th annual Super Bowl Breakfast, bringing together sports fans, Las Vegas business and civic leaders and football legends, including Pro Football Hall of Famers.

Travelers also won't want to miss the Super Bowl Experience presented by Toyota at Mandalay Bay South Convention Center at Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino.
Taking place February 7-10, the event offers attendees the chance to collect autographs from their favorite past and present players, shop for merchandise and participate in new and enhanced interactive games. Fans can also pose for photos with the Vince Lombardi Trophy, partake in a 40-yard dash against NFL players on LED screens and tour a Super Bowl display showcasing all 57 Super Bowl rings.
Visitors to Vegas without a ticket to the Big Game can look forward to dozens of watch parties, including an all-you-can-drink option at Guy Fieri's Vegas Kitchen & Bar at The LINQ Hotel + Experience and an all-you-can-eat buffet of tailgate favorites and 360-degree screens at Illuminarium Las Vegas at AREA15.
The city is also home to spectacular foodie finds and thrilling attractions that can be experienced year-round.
The Bottom Line
Super Bowl LVIII is guaranteed to be an electric and unforgettable event but travelers can expect to pay a price to experience it, even if it they don't make it inside Allegiant Stadium.
