When it comes to staying in hotels with points and miles, there are generally two main strategies.
Either you can rack up hotel points with hotel loyalty programs like IHG Rewards and World of Hyatt-or earn travel points that transfer to these programs-or you can pursue flexible travel credit and book some sort of rental condo, usually through Airbnb or VRBO.com.
Why the two options?
While staying in a fancy hotel with points can be a lot of fun and offer "bang for your buck" where your points are concerned, not all hotel rooms will sleep more than two people (especially in Europe) and many people prefer a space with a kitchen and living area. If you're traveling as a couple, on the other hand, you might crave the hotel or resort experience and prefer it to a condo with fewer amenities and a lot less grandeur.
Different strokes for different folks, right?
The thing is, it's actually possible to book condos in certain cities through Chase Ultimate Rewards-a loyalty program that is normally known for its transfers to hotel loyalty programs like Marriott, Hyatt, IHG Rewards and Ritz Carlton.
It depends on where you're traveling, of course, but I've recently found a ton of options available. You just have to search for what you need and hope it's there.
As you plan your travels with rewards, don't forget to think outside the box. Beyond just hotels and flights, Chase offers some condo options that can be perfect for a traveling family. But, you'll never know unless you look.
